Lay´ish; Heb., “lion”

1 The father of Palti(el), to whom Saul gave his daughter (who was David’s wife) Michal (1Sam 25:44) and for whose return David bargained (2Sam 3:12-16). 2 A Canaanite city, modern Tell el-Qadi, which was subsequently occupied by Israelites and named Dan (Judg 18:7-31). It is located ten and a half miles north of Lake Huleh.
